[37:39]  1 tn Heb “and the deliverance of the godly [ones] [is] from the Lord.”

[37:39]  2 tn Heb “[he is] their place of refuge in a time of trouble.”

[37:40]  3 tn The prefixed verbal forms with vav (ו) consecutive carry on the generalizing tone of the preceding verse.

[91:14]  4 tn The words “the Lord says” are supplied in the translation to clarify that the words which follow are the Lord’s oracle of assurance.

[91:14]  5 tn Or “make him secure” (Heb “set him on high”).

[91:14]  6 tn Heb “because he knows my name” (see Ps 9:10).

[91:16]  7 tn Heb “length of days.”

[118:8]  8 tn “Taking shelter” in the Lord is an idiom for seeking his protection. Seeking his protection presupposes and even demonstrates the subject’s loyalty to the Lord. In the psalms those who “take shelter” in the Lord are contrasted with the wicked and equated with those who love, fear, and serve the Lord (Pss 5:11-12; 31:17-20; 34:21-22).
